About us

HDDN Legal Search was founded by Michiel Donner, Inèz den Nijs and Jornt Hoekstra. We are former colleagues, all in possession of a university masters degree in law, with more than 20 years of combined experience in legal recruitment. We are extremely driven to make a difference with our new recruitment concept within the legal sector.

We soon developed a shared vision of how the recruitment industry has changed and how to respond to those changes as a business service provider. This vision has led to the creation of a new recruitment agency, with a focus on ensuring that the following core values are present: Quality, Flexibility, Speed, Integrity and Personality.

In 2020 HDDN Legal Search welcomed Robert Tol to join it's ranks.

HDDN Legal Search focuses primarily on the recruitment of experienced legal professionals for law firms, companies and government agencies, for both permanent and temporary positions.
 

Inèz den Nijs started her career as a lawyer in labor law at Van Till Advocaten in Amsterdam. In addition to her legal work, she was a board member of the Amsterdam Young Bar Association.

After working as a lawyer for three years, she switched to the recruitment firm Legal Work Force (part of Legal People), that specializes in legal positions. In five years’ time she established a broad network of contacts - both clients and candidates - within law firms, corporations and government agencies.
Subsequently, she made the switch to the well-known recruitment firm Ebbinge & Company. For more than two years, she focused on mediating experienced professionals in the private equity/financial and banking world. Inèz joined HDDN Legal Search in November 2013.

Inèz is a sparring partner and coach for candidates and acts as a consultant for clients regarding recruitment procedures, labor market communication and employer branding.

Ever since he completed his studies Dutch law, Michiel Donner has been active in the legal world. Michiel started out as a legal consultant and afterwards he has gained most of his experience in legal recruitment as a recruiter and as an executive search specialist.

Michiel worked for many years as a recruiter at the recruitment firm Legal Work Force (part of Legal People). Then, as an executive search specialist for Legal People, he gained much knowledge and experience in seeking out candidates for every type of legal position; from junior legal professionals to partners in the most diverse areas of expertise.

Due to his network and knowledge of the legal market, Michiel is without doubt the executive search specialist for legal functions in the Netherlands. Within HDDN Legal Search, Michiel is the first point of contact for legal professionals and ensures that the database of HDDN Legal Search is up to date at all times.
 

Upon completion of his law studies in 2012, Robert started his career in legal recruitment at Legal People in Amsterdam. After working as a consultant at Voxius, he switched to Spencer Stuart, an international leadership agency. At Spencer Stuart he was responsible for leadership advisory work, culture assessments and conducting executive searches at board level. In 2020, Robert went back to his legal roots and joined HDDN legal search as a partner.

Robert is experienced in guiding law firms, corporate organisations and individual legal professionals. In numerous searches and recruitment processes, he advised candidates in the (follow-up) choice for each type of legal position in a variety of areas of law. From legal counsel, attorney, attorney-partner to general counsel. Arranging the right sustainable connection between clients and candidates is what makes Robert tick. Enthusiasm, personal touch, drive and his network are the reasons why collaborating with Robert is a pleasant and effective experience.

Machteld, who joined HDDN in January 2019, has over 15 years of experience als a lawyer. She started her career with NautaDutilh (Amsterdam office), with which firm she worked in New York for 2 years. After a period of 5 years she joined Stek Law, where she focussed on corporate and financing transactions for about 7 years. Thereafter, she gained experience as an in-house (interim) lawyer in the trade and banking industry. Machteld enjoys motivating and connecting people. As an experienced lawyer not only does she have insight in which knowledge and skills are required in fulfilling a position, she also knows which aspects are important to candidates.
